PORTAGE COUNTY LAUNCHES RESIDENTIAL BROADBAND SURVEY The Portage County Board of Commissioners and the Portage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management are seeking community input to identify current limitations, or unserved/underserved locations in broadband internet availability to residential areas. The Residential Broadband Survey will be available to complete electronically on the Portage County Website at https://bit.ly/3tQ6INV, until July 27, 2022 and can be electronically submitted to pcema@portageco.com. Paper copies will be provided to local libraries and participating municipal and township buildings in each Portage County jurisdiction. Residents may also request a paper copy at the Portage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management located in the rear of the Portage County Justice Building at 8240 Infirmary Rd., Ravenna, OH, 44266. For paper-based surveys, they may be scanned in and emailed to pcema@portageco.com, hand-delivered or folded and mailed to the Portage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, 8240 Infirmary Rd., Ravenna, Ohio 44266. No personal identifiable information is collected as a part of this survey. Last year's Business Showcase on Main Street proved to be a success so we are doing it again this year! Join us on Thursday, July 14 (rain date July 21) on Main Street to showcase your business and meet new customers! This will be an outdoor event, and is scheduled to coincide with the Farmers' Market to increase visibility. The Business Showcase helps to support the Chamber Scholarship program -- you can choose to provide a raffle basket valued at $50 or more or pay the $75 registration fee. Baskets will be kept at your table ensuring attendees will make the rounds to each table. Please complete the showcase form and return to Michelle @ the Villager no later than July 7th. YMCA Rummage Sale will be held Friday June 3rd & Saturday June 4th from 8 am - 4 pm. The Y is located at 8233 Park Avenue in Garrettsville. Thousand's of items available!!! Proceeds from this sale support the Y's community campaign which provides assistance for those in need!

June food pick-up for the Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard will take place on Monday June 6 from 3 - 5:30 pm and Wednesday, June 15 from 9 - 11:30 am. If you have received home delivery you are on the list for June. It's car cruise time!! The Garrettsville Area Chamber will kick off the cruise season this Saturday on Main Street from 5-8 pm

The first car cruise of the 2022 season will be held Saturday, May 28 from 5-8 pm on Main Street. Music by Two Lane Highway. (Rain date will be May 29th)

JAG Historical Society Oral History Presentation Four Seasoned Citizens will talk about growing up in Garrettsville. . It will be at Garrettsville Village Hall from 2:00-4:00 on May 15th. Come learn about Garrettsville and have an opportunity to share your memories too .

The Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce meeting will be held on Wednesday May 4th at 7:30 am at the J.A. Garfield Historical Society located at 8107 Main Street. Everyone is welcome!

If you can sing, this is the contest for you!! Open Call Auditions for the 2022 Garrettsville Idol will be held in-person at the J.A. Garfield High School’s Iva Walker Auditorium on Sunday, April 24 from 1-3 pm. Contestants should be prepared to sing acapella for the judges. There are 3 age categories; 7-12 & 13-17 and 18 & up. The semi-finals will be held on Sunday, May 29th from 3-8 pm at the J.A. Garfield High School Iva Walker Auditorium. The Idol finals will be on the Main stage at Summerfest on Sunday, June 26th. The show begins at 7 pm. You MUST be able to attend (no exceptions) the semi-final and final shows. Contestants must be prepared to sing a complete song for both the Semi-Finals and Finals. Looking for some Easter egg-citement? The Fountain Church will be holding EGG FEST, April 9, 11am-1pm. This event is for all ages. Everyone will receive a bag to fill with assorted goodies as they walk though 3 decorated stations. There will also be a "to-go" Hot Dog Lunch. The event is free and open to the public.
