On September 21, 2024, the James A. Garfield Historical Society will be installing a new time capsule to be opened in 80 years - the 300th anniversary of our community.
The Historical Society is collecting letters from community members for the future time capsule. We are inviting community members to come by the Historical Society to write letters to future residents of Garrettsville.
We are interested in stories such as best childhood memory or how your family settled in this area, how many generations. Maybe write about a cherished object that has been handed down in your family and the stories it tells. Or maybe you'd like to share your memories of Garrettsville’s Main Street or businesses. You could write about what Garrettsville is like now so future residents can see the past. Write something you would be proud of! Entries must include author's name and date.
No need to make a reservation on any of the writing event dates. The Historical Society will provide archival paper and writing instruments that will help make these letters lasting treasures. You will be helping to preserve the place of Garrettsville in the future. We’ll see you there!
