Teen writing

Portage County District Library (PCDL) is holding a poetry contest for all Portage County teens who live in the PCDL service area (excludes Kent and Ravenna school districts).  Teens in grades 6-12 can participate by writing a poem, of any style, about their feelings and experiences regarding the Coronavirus pandemic or about the recent protests over racial injustice in our country.  Poems, which may appear on the PCDL’s Facebook page, should be emailed to contests@portagelibrary.org by Monday, August 17. Teen with the poem judged to be the best will receive the book, Smash Poetry Journal: 125 Writing Ideas for Inspiration and Self Exploration by Robert Lee Brower.

For more information about this library program or the Teen Summer Reading Bingo Challenge currently underway, visit www.portagelibrary.org or contact the nearest PCDL branch, with locations in Aurora, Garrettsville, Randolph, Streetsboro and Windham.
