Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Garrettsville Heidi Pittman-Collin
O’Henry, O’Malley, O’My! Follow the road to Garrettsville this St. Patrick’s Day for a time you won’t soon forget. And that’s no blarney! Grab your friends and neighbors, head on down for great food and savings at area restaurants and businesses.
The wee little town of Garrettsville knows how to celebrate, and they are starting first thing in the morn’. Start off with a hearty breakfast, and a beer if you are so inclined. Sean’s Pub, Miller’s Restaurant, SkyLane Lounge and the Main Street Grille are serving up morn’ meals that will help get you started for the daylong celebration.
If you can’t start out celebrating with breakfast, how about the mid day meal or evenin’ sup. The area restaurants just keep cooking up the specials all day long. The best melt-in-your mouth corned beef can be found right here in Garrettsville. Choose from The Brick, Cal’s, SkyLane, Main Street Grille, Sean’s Pub, Miller’s Restaurant, the Eagles Club and Gery’s Down Under in Hiram for a tasty meal.
If you want to celebrate in the comfort of your own home, not a worry, my friend. Swing by That’s The Spirit for an Irish ale or your favorite drink. Then consider Domino’s, Zeppe’s, McDonald’s or Dairy Queen for your meal. For dessert you might try a Mint Oreo Blizzard or Shamrock shake.
The James A. Garfield Historical Society will be open for visitors to stop in for a wee bit ‘o the local history and an opportunity to see the new historical marker. After stopping in for some local lore, head back out on the street and visit the stores, where you’re sure to find something to add to your treasures. The Historical Society, The Cornerstone Gifts & Antiques, Chic & Shabby, The Shaker Tree, The Village Bookstore and Art-n-Flowers will stay open late. While browsing, you don’t need to worry about your “green”, many are offering specials that will have you kicking up your heels.
What celebration would be complete without entertainment? Many restaurants will provide entertainment for you to enjoy and fun for you to participate in. On the eve o’ St. Patrick’s Day, along the streets of the festively-decorated town, the sweet sounds of Ireland will be heard as a bag piper wanders the sidewalks.
Keep your eyes open, the legend o’Garrettsville’s leprechaun returning on St. Patty’s night is no’ a tale, my friend. He has been spotted in his favorite town, watching over his pot o’ gold --gold that you have a chance to win. At each restaurant and business that you visit, you can enter your name in Garrettsville’s Go-Green-For-Some-Gold drawings. All the names will be placed in a hopper and drawn to win gift certificates to the area businesses.
This St. Patrick’s Day come down to Garrettsville to experience great food, entertainment, local lore and shopping...and a chance to win a bit o’ our leprechaun’s gold!
Look in next week’s March 12th edition of the Weekly Villager for a complete listing of participating businesses, an area map and ads. You can also find this information online at www.weeklyvillager.com/green.
